Library Thing

Kinda fun, glad to see libraries in the spotlight. Perhaps should be on the library's homepage for patron use.

Finding Feeds

Started from Feedster and went on to look for some news feeds. Newslaugh.com and News-spider.com look interesting. The changing way people get their news makes me think of a story I heard on the radio (yes, remember that?) this morning about Dan Rather dissing Katie Couric and CBS news in a recent interview. He said CBS "dumbed it down and tarted it up" when they hired her. Ow. It got me to wondering if the traditional 6 o'clock news should have retired along with Walter Cronkite and now the networks are fighting over non-existent ratings because everyone's getting their news elsewhere (feeds included) these days.

Exploring RSS Feeds

Interesting way to organize sites, glad to know about it.

My Technology Post

Today I have muddled my way through some exercises. I am interested and up to the challenge and agree that is our obligation as information professionals to stay on top of new technology. However, I find it very difficult to try and figure this out without a human by my side to help. The Go To Girl has been extremely patient and wonderful in helping me and other staff members, I would not have been able to get this far without help. My rant is how many different accounts I must create (Flickr, Yahoo, etc) to do anything and how many passwords I must remember, how can one keep them all straight? I am troubled by the personal information I was asked to provide (name, birthdate, etc) and wonder how many people acutally give their accurate information. While I don't believe the techno-boogeyman is out to get me, I don't believe in volunteering information.
